Job Summary

The Field Application Specialist will provide excellent technical support, training, and application solutions for Illumina genomic customers in Anglophone West Africa. 

The Application Specialist ensures seamless adoption of Illumina products through scientific expertise, customer engagement, and efficient troubleshooting. 

This role bridges the gap between sales and technical implementation to drive customer success, increase retention, and enhance market positioning.

Job Details

  • Provide on-site and remote technical support for installation, configuration, and troubleshooting of medical and laboratory equipment.
  • Conduct product demonstrations and training sessions for customers and internal teams.
  • Collaborate with the sales team to understand customer needs and recommend appropriate solutions.
  • Assist in preparing technical proposals and documentation for tenders and bids.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of product features, applications, and industry trends.
  • Serve as a liaison between customers and product development teams to relay feedback and improvement suggestions.
  • Support marketing efforts by participating in exhibitions, workshops, and seminars.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory and safety standards during installations and training.

Requirements

  • HND or Bachelor’s degree in Biomedical Engineering, Medical Laboratory Science, Life Sciences, or related field. (Advanced degrees or certifications in instrumentation or diagnostics are a plus.)
  • A minimum of a Second Class Upper (2:1) or Upper Credit is required.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in a technical support or application specialist role within the medical or laboratory equipment industry.
  • Strong understanding of laboratory workflows, diagnostic systems, and life sciences applications.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical users.
  • Proficiency in using CRM systems and Microsoft Office tools.
  • Must be willing to travel
